A the International Petroleum Technology conference in Doha, Schlumberger unveiled its new Opticall offering, billed as a thermal profile and investigation service based on using a fibre-optic line – installed via slickline well intervention process downhole - to provide data on dynamic temperatures.

The service has already been deployed for offshore applications, and on 250 wells in 11 countries, the company stated.

“The OPTICall service offers a low-risk, economical way to troubleshoot issues in all types of wells,” declared Claude Durocher, slickline business manager for Schlumberger.
