Boost for Bravo
Published 04.02.2010 15:35:10 by John Bradbury
More oil is now being pumped up from the UK North Sea Beatrice Bravo platform after operator Ithaca Energy completed a three-well  workover programme.

Ithaca said today that production potential from the ageing installation is now up to 1,500 b/d of oil – 750 b/d net to Ithaca – after the well intervention programme carried out with the Ensco 80 jackup rig, significantly boosting production from the northern part of the field.

“This is significantly above management’s target of 500 bopd (250 bopd net to Ithaca) however it is too early to establish a reliable longer term production forecast and management retains the overall target of 5,100 bopd net average production for 2010,” the company has said.

Approximately 1,000 bopd gross  - 500 b/d net to Ithaca-  of incremental production potential is attributed to a “highly effective” B11 well intervention which perforated a previously untapped section of the Beatrice reservoir to access an undrained field area, Ithaca stated.

Since the completion of the workover programme the Ensco 80 has been released after a period of waiting on weather and Ithaca has indicated that Beatrice wells tied into the Alpha platform should soon be back up later this month after process plant issues on that installation are resolved.

“This positive result has been achieved through excellent subsurface work that has been undertaken to identify upside potential which still exists in the Beatrice field,” said John Woods, chief development officer at Ithaca, which operates Beatrice with 50%, partnered by Dyas UK, which has the remaining 50% field equity.
