Wave Hub tender re-issued
Published 20.01.2010 14:35:06 by John Bradbury
Britain's South West Regional Development Agency has issued a new tender notice for the installation of the cables related to the Wave Hub project off the north coast of Cornwall which will provide a test bed for renewable energy devices. The tender is for the provision of offshore surveys, installation of a subsea cable and hub and associated works, which is to be completed in shallow water 16 km (10 miles) offshore from Hayle in Cornwall. Pre-installation and post-installation surveys are required as part of the deal on offer from the SWRDA , based in Exeter, in the UK. Tender documents seen by Offshore247 show that the tender process is being managed by JP Kenny – with the project scope involving the collection of the 26 km (16.25 mile) subsea cable. from Hartlepool in the UK, load out and installation of the cable, along with installation of a subsea hub structure, in a water depth of up to 50 metres, plus near shore trenching operations and shore cable pull-in at Hoyle. An option also exists to provide a navigational mark for the offshore Wave Hub site. The estimated value of the contract is put at between £3.5 m and £5.5 m and the deadline for submission of tenders or requests for information on the contract have to be submitted to the South West Regional Development Agency by 1 February. Commencement of the contract is required by 1 March this year and completion of the work is required by the end of September. Details of the contract were previously published by the authority in 16 June last year but it has had to be re-advertised. “This contract has previously been advertised for a similar package of works, but the contract award procedure was abandoned due to no acceptable tenders being received,” the regional agency has stated. “This contract is therefore being advertised under the accelerated procedure with an amended scope of works,” a public tender notice indicates. The SWRDA indicates that a minimum of five contractors will be considered for the work, and a maximum of 20. ![]() No new money: KNOCKNOC has confirmed it will not put any more money on the table to try and complete its hostile £1.67 Bn (US $2.57 Bn) takeover of Dana Petroleum.
